That's really weird - I've actually had more issues with Wordpress. Most of the issue tends to be my own laptop or Firefox freezing, but I've found that if something like that happens, Substack is more likely to be able to put me close to where I was - even in comments! I was particularly annoyed with Wordpress a few weeks ago when I literally had to re-write about 20-30 minutes of material because supposedly the last save was that far back (which didn't make any sense since the photos I uploaded shortly before the crash were all saved!) Come to think of it, though, Wordpress hasn't hung on "saving post" for me for quite awhile now. I'm trying to work with both systems, for better or for worse. Although I'd say that Substack is easier to write with, I don't like how it handles media assets (though Wordpress should institute "tagging") and there's more customization available at WP. I hope you still come by to read though!
Substack repeatedly locks me out of my posts while I'm editing. I write them in Word and transfer them in both Substack and Wordpress but sometimes add things or add headers in Substack. They freeze me out and won't let me retrieve it and I'm tired of it. I just can't manage two sites, all the social media, etc. Marketing books and having to be out there on everything is just overwhelming anymore.
That is really weird, and I'd be incredibly frustrated with it too!
Just wondering, as far as marketing and all, would paying someone (like a trusted teen "digital native") something to make sure X post got posted here, here, and here or a link to the new product got posted twice a day on twitter or whatever be worth it? I haven't kept up with a lot of my social media stuff because even posting the links every time I post takes time - and I'm not even trying to market a book! *L* (And I avoid Facebook like the plague. Wordpress tells me I get some shares there anyway.)
I don't think I'd ever pay anyone to do it. I do it all myself even though I hate social media. Ugh. Maybe if I got super rich and famous I'd do it. *wink*
